SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

VETERANS, ACTIVE MILITARY MEMBERS, AND FAMILIES

 

A FEW WAY WE SERVE THE COMMUNITY: PROJECTS -EVENTS -PROGRAMS-SPONSORSHIP

 

MEAT PROGRAM FOR VETERANS IN NEED-Since 2008 we have provided over 6,700 packages of free meat to veterans and families of vets, National Guard families, etc. This is possible via our coordination with Oregon State Police, Oregon Fish and Wildlife, Sport hunter donations. Game handed out to date; Bear, Duck, Elk, and Deer.

PATRIOTIC PEN- An annual program involving junior high students in Douglas County, students judged  in contest regarding Patriotic themes with winners paid out award monies.

   

VOICE OF DEMOCRACY - An annual program involving High school students, where winners are awarded scholarship monies, with winners advancing to state and National completion for college scholarships.

 

VETERANS REMEMBRANCE  WALL-A beautiful  monument adjacent to the V FW Post 2468 Post with Veteran Plaques representing military veterans who have served our country from 1776 to present.

 

FOOD DELIVERY-Delivered  2,000 lbs. of food hard goods to support Veterans via Pacific N W Bandits Club to a volunteer group preparing meals for veterans who must stay overnight to receive medical service at V Portland .

 

Caring Volunteers  Hands Worldwide- assisted in coordination to have them come to Douglas County for free dental service to veterans.

 

Volunteered to build Handicap ramps for veterans and widows at their homes-Buddy Poppy Program for Veterans Relief Fund-Children's Fire Arms Safety Class to educate children on Gun safety-American Flag Etiquette programs at local schools-Sponsored a Basketball Team-Sponsored Concert to raise funds for veteran relief fund in Douglas County
